So I have been making regular payments towards my water bill with Seven Trent. They originally offered me a payment plan, which I chose to ignore, although Ive been making payments towards the bill as and when I can afford it. Seven Trent have now decided, after months of threats, that they have too many toys and need to throw them out of their pram.
Today I've had a call from Debeo Debt Recovery, I dont have any idea how they got my number, the call went something like this:
"Hello is this Mr ***"
"Sorry theres nobody here by the name mister"
"Ok then is this Mr Neil ***"
"Nope, theres nobody here called mister"
"Ok then is this Neil"
"Ah yes, thats me how can I help"
"My names sharon from debeo debt recovery, we're a subsidiary of seven trent and we've been authorised to collect a debt, can you confirm your first address line and your postcode"
"No"
"Why not"
"Because I dont have to"
"In that case I cant discuss the account"
"hmmm, what account"
"The money that we are trying to recover on behalf of seven trent"
"Ok, can you send me a copy of the contract that I signed with yourselves?"
"We dont need one"
"Oh right, you dont need a contract in order to extract money from me?"
"No, we've been given authority by seven trent"
"Oh I see, who's given you authority over me?"
"Seven trent did"
"Oh perhaps you can get them to confirm that authority before I discuss this 'account' with you then
"You'll be hearing from us by post in due course... theres no need to be difficult and I dont have to accept that tone... click...brrrrrrrr"
So, I'll keep you posted as to developments, in the meantime I'll continue to make payments to Seven Trent (who my contract is with) and not these chancers. Damn that felt good
