hello people united,
I am looking for some advice. I recently got a phone call from a person claiming to be a warrant officer. he told me that i owed the courts money for over 3 years worth of allegations to my person. It all started with my car, which broke down and then ran out of tax on the same day!!!i was told i had fne attatched to my name. little did i know about law and orde at the time so i went and agreed. at the time i was on benifits and could only pay a minute ammount per month. however my circumstances changed as did my address and a 3 year gap in correspondance occured. Am i to blame for this? The warrant officer was offering me to go to court or i would be taken in! the way it stands isd that they are trying to pin me for three years of no tax, 2008, 2009 and 2010. however when i left my previous address, the car stayed as it was still broken. i am still holding payments from the car company as it was proven to be sold in an unfit condition, but it was left in the road unseable as i could not afford to transport a non working vehicle to my new address. then it dissapeared. I phoned up the police asking if they had anything to do with its dissaperaing act and they told me operation crackdown had taken it and that it would be crushed in 14 days...... this was on or around the 14th august 2009. is it even possible to be charged for nonn payment of tax when i didnt have possesion of the car? can i appeal for this to be taken off my sum? how do i appeal? and the most important thing is, if the dvla think the car is still alive.....is it? and how do i find out? as it seems that if it is, it has been kept alive deliberatly so they can attatch charges to it. would this have gone on every year?? my guess is yes!
I am fully aware that i may owe the court some money, and im too worried about loosing my job or my possesions to make a massive fuss about all this, but im desperate to get some advice as to how to lower the total ammount or launch a counter claim agaist the court.
Please help me in any way you can. i really need it!!!1
