William Davis - The Dangers of Wheat
April 29, 2012
Dr. William Davis, cardiologist and seeker-of-truth in health exposes "healthy whole grains" for the incredibly destructive genetic monsters they've become. Over 80% of the people he meets today are pre-diabetic or diabetic. In an effort to reduce blood sugar, he asked patients to remove all wheat products from their diet based on the simple fact that foods made of wheat flour raise blood sugar higher than nearly all other foods, regardless if the wheat is organic, multi-grain, whole grain or sprouted. The results were positively drastic. Dr. Davis will discuss the benefits of going wheat free. We'll cover genetic changes of wheat verses ancient grains. He explains how modern wheat is an opiate and appetite stimulant. William also breaks down the internal components of wheat and how they interact with the body in negative ways linked to a slew of health problems. He also explains the great lie of gluten free bread. Why aren't doctors giving this important research any attention?

Grains, especially whole grains, are an essential part of a healthy diet.

Im not quite sure why you say essential - id be grateful if you could elaborate.

As far as I can tell it is a staple throughout much of the world but then so are potatoes and rice and others.

Wheat, historically was a very different creature to what it has been refined to be today.
It has been domesticated, and selectively bred for yield at the expense of other virtues such as nutrition, hardiness, disease resistence etc. It has then been selectively bred again for mechanisation. The nutritional value of modern wheat in no way can resemble that which our ancestors gathered or harvested and this is before you enter factors such as intensive farming which nutritionally deplete the grain further still.
Before grain reaches the table it is processed yet again stripping it of any remaining nutrient.
What people regard as grain today is little more than filler and worse if it is GMO or carries residues of pesticides.

But I do concede that there is a place in our diet for whole grains - not necessarily wheat though!

Excellent post p_devlin
Wheat would grow to 4/5 foot tall, selective breeding has produced what is know as dwarf wheat of which the proteins inflame the digestive tract rendering it practically useless at absorbing the vitamins essential for good heath from our food (not that there are many in supermarket food's  )

statements like whole grains, are an essential part of a healthy diet may have been true once but no longer
Edit; why don't good posts like this show up in view active topics?

Thanks for your comments Deacus and haarp

I have been trying various alternative grains lately - buckwheat flour was tasty as is egyptian kamut flour.
along with other grains such as bulgar wheat, quinoa, millet grain - among others - i have found them all to be useful alternatives to wheat flour based produce.

For any who suffer from diabetes type 2 - gymnema sylvestre might be worth researching - it is know to help repair beta cells.

Wheat presents a special case insofar as wild and selective breeding has produced variations which include up to 6 sets of chromosomes (3x the human genome worth!) capable of generating a massive number of proteins each with a distinct potentiality for antigenicity.Wheat is almost like poison.
Wheat contains a lectin known as Wheat Germ Agglutinin which is responsible for causing direct, non-immune mediated damage to our intestines, and subsequent to entry into the bloodstream, damage to distant organs in our body.
