Do I have to pay?

Postby chezza » Tue Feb 07, 2012 7:44 pm

Hiya all.

I have my own flat.
I have not been able to live there for over a year now due to something that wasn't my fault.
I have been topping up my T.V License for that year, yet I have not watched Television at the flat as I have not been at the property and won't be there for the forseeable future.
Do you think that T.V Licensing would re fund me the money that I have already paid or move it over to this year?
How do I stand on this?
Anyone got a clue?
I'm not going to pay any more for now as I don't see why I should be paying for something that I'm not/haven't watched for over a year now.

Chezza.

You won't get a refund or credit for non-use because the TV receiving equipment is installed at the address. The TV licence not only applies to use, but also is a requirement if equipment is installed.

Hi all.

T.V license was switched to my new address including what I have already paid for old address, I only have around £40 left to pay now.
Water bill sorted, what was paid to old address has also been switched to new address and I don't have to pay anything for 6 months or so now.
So there you are, it CAN be done.

It does say installation and use in the statutory regulations. If it were just the use, then they would have to provide evidence of the TV actually being used. This is near impossible for them unless they get an admission from someone that they watch TV without a TV licence.

you can use your tv as a monitor for computers or consoles and watch dvd or videos on them without obtaining a licence
you need a licence only if you watch live broadcasts (live actually means transmitted at that moment in time )
i dont have a licence and i use my big box for me computer and they know it aswell and i refused them entry to my dwelling 3 times then i wrote a letter of complaint about harasment

I've read the t.v licsence agreement and it says you still have to pay the fee even if you haven't got a t.v at all, if you have any of the following, a computer, a mobile phone and a games console.
