Advice please

Postby Ting Ting » Thu Jul 05, 2012 8:16 pm

Hi
A casually dressed man came to my door earlier and caught my girlfriend
he asked are you miss blah blah, she was in the middle of something so without thinking said yes,
to which he replies i'm from the tv livcensing, we need to sort out a payment plan,
like i said she was in the middle of something and said she told him that it wasnt a good time
i went to close the door as he was saying we have sent you letters and tried to deal with this so it will be going to court.
At no time did she admit to watching or evening owning a tv, but a few years back she did write to the bbc using tpuc templates expressing her disapproval with them.

Any advice would be appreciated

Do you watch or record television broadcasts "live", on a tv or other device?

Most convictions without entry are brought about by answering that very question the wrong way. They cant get through your door without invitation or a court warrant. They cant get a court warrant unless they can get through your door, or if you do watch tv and sign up for sky or something stupid.

I do have tv's but they are used for gaming and dvd's one of them does have an aerial but is not watched live as most of what they put on is corrupt.

I haven't had a TV license for 6 years. I don't watch the garbage out of principle but i do like to watch DVDs and the kids have a ps3. I have an aerial at my property, if it was my house i would remove it but its rented. When they write to me i Just phone them and say i don't need a license because i don't watch live broadcasts. They say OK but we may send some one round and i say yeah what ever. Job done.

Just phone them up and say you don't need one.

Or get a video camera and play them at their own game with the hearty knowledge that they cant win and every step they take will just make your youtube video all the more hilarious... And enlightening about the people who work for self appointed authority.
