One small point on the "prevention of terrorism act" it's not... it is simply "the terrorism act 2000". If it had anything at all to do with preventing terrorism, maybe it would be given the name you gave it??
Here's what section 44 says - (3) An authorisation under subsection (1) or (2) may be given only if the person giving it considers it expedient for the prevention of acts of terrorism.
