South east england

Postby I_Want2BeFree » Sat May 05, 2012 1:07 am

Hi all.

I'm new here so probably missed alot. I'm wondering whether there are any off grid projects down south as close to E.Sussex as possible.
I'm 50 but very fit and healthy. Many skills - Electronics - Mechanics - Computers ete. Worked in the building industry too so can make myself very useful.

I desperately want to get off grid so that I can be rid of this oppresive life. I'd like to just pack up and hike about but have a granson that I have a deep relationship with so would be unfair to leave him for long periods hence looking for something in this area.

What I'd realy like would be to find somewhere, anywhere! where myself, grandson and his mother could all live off grid.
Does anyone know of either somewhere near E.Sussex for myself, or Somewhere (anywhere) suitable for children aswell?

I'm not sure about recent developments in East Sussex, but I was researching a form of off the grid living known as 'Earthships', or Earthship architecture, sometimes known as Biotecture. Check out 'earthships' or 'mike reynolds' (architect) on youtube, I'm pretty sure they had a channel.

There were only two places which had working Earthships actually built in the UK, one in Scotland somewhere, one in Brighton, where they also run short courses on how to build the things. Definately worth checking out.

Let me know if its any help.

Hello friends. I could contribute as well in from South East. I have gardening skills with semi building skills. I know the 'forest type of life' as I grow up in forest collecting mushrooms and berries, and on the fields herbs. Also, medium Farming skill .
