Is the question relevant to the topic n2s? - I did begin to reply to it but felt that thread-drift might be an issue.

have you seen the video Ed posted on calibration of cameras.

Also Maurice from Deadbeatdads deliberately went through six or seven cameras to test which tactic worked best, he found just ignoring them worked best, listen to the interview from 1hour and 1minute and 45 seconds in

Weirdly enough, I too recently got done for doing 38 in a 30??!!

Anyway, I've been offered to attend a speed awarenes course.
I wonder what will happen if I turn up dressed as the stig?? :D

On a serious note, I feel it truely is used as a source of revenue. The cop that zapped me speeding was hiding at the bottom of a steep hill just round a shallow bend (basically he was hiding!!)... There was minimal risk of harming anyone so why be there??.... The time is rapidly coming where we will have to start drawing a line in the sand and saying no more... You can virtually feel the boot of authority being stamped down upon us.

We must ensure that what ever happens when we stand up to the ptb, we MUST do it peacefully!!

Hi All,
just checking in after Xmas and I wanted to thank everybody that had posted advice and observations. Just to recap, I am the named driver on the insurance of my Moms motorbility car. I got tagged by 'manned equipment' doing 38 in a 30 zone. The letter came to my Moms house, and she named me as the driver. A subsiquent letter arrived at my address and I returned it 'No Contract'. Over the xmas period a second NIP arrived at Ma's house. Apologies for not being able to scan it but it states

"Following your recent nomination of (dastardly Dr.S) as driver of your Vehicle, when the above offence was committed, I can tell you that enquiries have been made regarding that named person at the address given by you. I regret to inform you that we have not been able to confirm your nominated person as the driver.
Section 172 of the Road Traffic act requires you the keeper of the vehicle provide details of the driver at the time of the offence. As a resut of our enqiries we cannot be be certain at this time that you have forfilled your duty

Proceedings are therefore being considere against YOU in respect of this. a summons may follow in due course

However, should any actual evidence become available which may tend to prove your nomination, I ask that you forward it to this office for our consideration at the earliest possible convienience. Failing this, such information may be presented at any subsequent court proceedings."

Enclosed with this letter is another NIP form.

I have read with intrest the other speeding threads, and am now wondering how to proceed. Obviously my Mom doesnt want to be prosecuted. Shes a pensioner and more suceptable to this form of intimidation than I. Also she cannot afford any more points or she will loose her motorbility vehicle. So what do you reckon guys? Should we return this and subsequent letters, or craft a reply letter, based on the ones posted in the other threads?

Happy New Year to you all - Dr. S

Incidentally, Just listening to the news and theres a story about the beak prosecuting a 64 year old for flashing his break lights to warn of a speed trap. Check it out at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-12115179

When he was pulled over he told them he was 'doing his civic duty' and warning others of the danger in the road.

They fined him a total of 425 for obstructing an Officer

You mother did her so-called duty in identifying the `person` at the time of the `offence`, this she has signed and declared.
It is NOT your mothers concern that a corporation is unable to find said `person`.

Section 172 of the Road Traffic act requires you the keeper of the vehicle provide details of the driver at the time of the offence.

This was done, so what grounds to they have for any complaint to your mother?
None.

Proceedings my arse. They want to `levy` some funds from someone and unfortunatly your mother is the next target, I presume in order to frighten you to admitting guilt.
