London Bridge Notice of Intended prosecution (speeding)

Hello all,

I am new here and really need some help as I am in a real pickle, I received a Notice of intended prosecution for speeding over tower bridge doing 30 mph in a 20 zone. I work within security industry as a close protection officer and require a clean license for working, 3 points literally would make the difference between getting jobs and not, which is why i am always so carful to follow and comply with the speeding zones. Any advice is welcome.


Basically i was the driver but feel that my offence was committed due to ignorance on my behalf and a failure to properly display the speed zone.

- when i was driving on the 4th of december all the painted road markings where covered with snow (black slush which can be seen in the photographic evidence) and the signs are unlit / in low light level areas.

- there was alot of fog

- there was building/construction work all down the left hand side (its still there now)

- it was night time and raining
- the cameras were not hi-lighted like normal (not that i am the type of person who would deliberately offend)

- I dont understand how they can expect me to identify my self as the persony party prior to being charged with anything.

- Can someone please explain to me how to respond to this, and how to get my case heard.

- does anyone know about these driving courses?


so i have been on this forum looking at the whole im not a person thing, but in reality i think if i started making war with the government/police it would ruin my job prospects as the circuit is very finicky.

Hi mate, i have had two - one is 5 moths old the other probs 4... All i did was ignored them.

They send all correspondance through the post - non recorded... how can they ever prove that you got it??

What happened to me was i received the initial NIP followed by a warning a few weeks later saying i had 7day to pay up... followed by another letter saying i had another 7 days about 1 and half weeks later.. then nothing..

It was the same with both cases.. i did not make any contact whatsoever.

Anyway mate, thats my story but if you want further info then ask CheekyCherub - i am led to beleieve that she has alot of experiance on this.

Take care mate, whatever you do.. dont worry about it - thats what they want you to do..

The most important thing to do right now is to make NO contact whatsoever untill you have made your mind up on what to do - otherwise you will stand very little chance getting out of it later.

I was talking with my father briefly over christmas biut never finished the conversation, but according to him there is legislation with regard to what constitutes being served, and his short story before i could get details was that the legislation states that even if not signed for, once it is posted it is deemed served, and that lawyers and whatnot actually use this to trap people by "serving them" when they're on holiday etc, hence i guess how court hearings an go down without you ever being made aware of it. I need to find out more about it but it was a bit of a WTF reaction.

Hugh, your dad's right.

But if it's not sent either recorded or registered, there are ways around this.

Firstly i just wanted to thank everyeone for there responses.

Starbuck25, yes you are right in the fact that this is my first post, however i certanly am not a person interested in eastenders or x factor...furthermore yes i am well aware that using a template is not a solution to this situation. The reason i originaly found this forum was finding out about common law, which i must confess was a real eye opener and have now decided to become a member to find out more about this predicament i am. Additionally I want to contribute my experiences with this so that others in tern can learn from what ever road i have to walk to get this dismissed. Essentially I am looking for points of law/legislation/ or any other presidents that can be used to discredit their claim of contract or the evidence they hold.


does anyone know of any cases or presidents that can be used regarding driving offences and poor visibility of road markings due to poor weather/lighting/construction as surly they have a duty to clearly display both the cameras and speed zones if they want to start issuing civil offences.

youl end up getting 6 points instead if you start buggering about,

london bridge has special permision to have crap signs,,,, but they do have to be there and the last time i looked they were damaged and so you would have a defence,,, even then you might be able to talk your way out of it if the snow obscured them
