New site with government e-petitions, please support now

Postby markies » Wed Oct 26, 2011 7:48 am

Hello,

I recently made a website to help campaign against the TV licence. It seems to me, the government is always saying it wants to help those on low incomes, well here's a simple way to give us back £145.50 a year! There are links to government e-petitions; 100, 000 signatures would mean we can get it debated and hopefully get rid of the tax for good.

I could really do with some support right now so please +1, tweet and fb it. Thanks.

I like your site good work my friend. If I were you though I would make a section about the unenforceable position of the tv license like for example:

• TV license dectector vans don’t exist they are scientifically impossible and if for arguments sake they did exist the technology is secret and therefore can’t be used in court.

• TV license inspectors have no right to access your home without a warrant and they virtually never get a warrant which means enforcement is impossible unless you choose to cooperate.

• They cant take you to court unless they definately know your name and they can’t know who you are for sure unless you tell them.

• You can remove common law implied rights of access (I can provide you with the letter you need to send) which means if they do visit your property they are breaking the law regardless of whether or not you have a license.

Smart people will read between the lines and realise all they have to do to defeat the tv license is not pay and not cooperate. You dont need to beg the government to revoke the license just dont pay :D

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback and will consider adding the advice.

I was trying to keep the main marketing message - the concept - very simple and to the point. Sure, there are many arguments for and against the licence, but I feel it only fuels the "debate", allowing them some credit for it's existence, that it is not entirely wrong to have a tv licence. And we have to remember, however short-sighted, there is a hardcore of tv licence believers. Somehow we have to turn their opinion, being an outright rebel isn't necessarily going to win them over.

I think promoting the related e-petitions has some merit, backed by the simple BBC concept of "pay us first". I did not create the e-petitions, I'm not looking for credit for that, I just want the BBC to be dragged into the 21st century ... the current model is a dinosaur waiting to die.
