Help The balliffs are coming!!

Postby gonks » Mon Mar 19, 2012 12:11 am

I would like to know how many visits they will make. is there an official limit. I'm expecting them any time for non payment of council tax. I have had a notice of liability order. I know to not talk or let them in and all my doors and window are thouroughly locked and my kids are aware and i wont do business with them and the curtains will be closed.
how many times will they call as i dont want to live forever like a vampire!!

Oh please someone i must have a rough idea. or if someone has had them round before. i'm moving in a couple of months so i dont want them waiting outside playing tug of war with me stuff!!

so distressed. thanks

I have found something on another site that mentions they can call between 6am-9pm. Only charge for 3 visits. And they can call up until 90 days. But I don't know how true that is.

My Dad recently went bankrupt because of the crash in 08' and also had a £5000 outstanding council tax bill. Out of all the debt he owed it was only the Council Bailiffs that came round, at least 2 times a week for over a year. They still knock on the door to our council house to this day as you'd expect from a bureaucratic regime, but only once every couple of months.

Some years ago I had bailiffs come round to put a notice of distraint on my tumble dryer in the foyer so I tore the door off and gave them a down payment :D (it was not working properly anyway) as it turned out I owed them nothing at but they still came round three more times and got fekked off three more times.

As i think ive said in another reply before.i got an invitation to a kangaroo court for non payment of council tax last year and binned it.a couple to three months later got one knock at the door.and i mean 1 knock.then stuck a "letter" through letter box saying they had called and extra charges etc bla bla bla.been expecting them 4 ages but so far nothing.thats my own experience and i live in greater london.im not on electoral registar and havnt filled out census and never correspond.i think it depends on circumtances.im not on benefits and dont pay tax.the only way they could of got my name is from my landlord who had me sign a 6 month tenacy agreement when we 1st moved here sept 2010.since then he's got his cash every month and everyones happy.he hasnt mentiond to me that council has been on to him and i aint mentioned that ill refuse to pay traitors a penny.dont know if it helps you mate but good luck to you anyway.i havnt signed another tenancy agreement since the 1st 6 month "contract".he's never asked me to and im happy not to mention it either.maybe its luck for me this time.

They can legally visit as many times as they like but they will eventually give in, return the case to the council who will then seek your imprisonment.

They can charge as many fees as they visit for. See here for fees:

Further to last nights post:this morning i recceved a letter from the council for this years council tax of 15 hundred odd quid.they was kind to offer me time to pay in instalments the 1st of which was for 150 quid to be paid on 1st april(what sort of fool do they think i am)reading further down the page it said i also owed over 2 grand odd from previous tax demands bringing a grand total of 3 and half grand.hope i get the same bailiff firm again.it seems they knocked once posted a letter once then back to the council it must of gone.i aint got to worry about the baliffs for a while after all.ive got to give their next invitation to the kangaroo ball a blank 1st then 1 or 2 council letters before lock down about 14 days after 1st baliff letter.sept/oct at a rough guess.happy days.
