Stressed: Refund from a debt management organisation

Postby phosphorus » Fri Apr 27, 2012 5:03 pm

Hi All

I wonder if anyone can please point me in the best direction. This is a bit of a long shot, as you'll find out on reading.

In 2006, I was in a lot of debt having finished my midwifery degree. Out of sheer desperation, I contacted a company called Euro Debt. I paid nine hundred and forty pounds (library keyboard is seriously playing up), however, due to apathy on my part I neglected to use the service and just muddled along somehow.

In the last few years, I've undertaken the journey that so many have who use this brilliant website, however, I'm struggling like mad financially again with all sorts of threatening letters from bailiffs and DCAs. I simply cannot cope with the stress of all this. I'd thought I'd been successful in flicking off one 'creditor', but no- I'd just moved loads of times which slowed their tracking me down.

I'm thinking that rather than another couple of years of stress and pingpong, I'd prefer to pay the bailiffs. However, I have nothing to pay them with and cannot part with my car (this is what they want- car hire purchase case) because I need it for work. If I can get a refund from Euro Debt, this would help my position as I'd give it to the bailiffs.

They've investigated my refund request, but are not budging. They say that refunds are calculated on the amount os funds received by The Company less any reasonable costs incurred to date by The COmpany this being in line with the terms and conditions of my debt management agreement. However, no work was actioned on my behalf, so surely I'm due for a refund.

They say that my complaint falls outside the jurisdication of the Financial Ombudsman Service as the event dates back to an event before April 2007.

I'm so so upset about this. I can't afford to be any more upset and stressed than I already am. I can hardly think straight in order to come up with the right course of action.

If anyone has the time to give me any tips, I'd so appreciate it!

Thanks in advance
