Meet up at buchanan street bus station an hour or so before we want to arrive...whenever that is.

Did the last meet start at night or the afternoon or what?

Hey everyone, glad to see Glaswegian people are on the ball.

So I hope everyone here managed to get to see John Harris's talk the other day. He gave a great talk and his info just gets better everytime.

As for a meetup, I was thinking those of us who have been at the meetings or just like what tpuc stands for. We should meet up on a certain day of the month. Or every two weeks.

A good place to meet up would be a pub in town. Most people should be able to get a train or bus to Central Station in Glasgow.
From there, there's 2 Wetherspoons I know about. One is quite close to Central station and I've met up a few times with people there. It is quieter than the one near Queen Street Station(the one in the old bank near Georges Square)

A meetup would have to be on a day that suits most people. I would suggest that people write down days they are free from work/commitments.

I am free on SUNDAY/MONDAY/THURSDAY. I Work the rest of the days mostly after 5pm. Except Saturday when I work 12-8.

At the meetings we should probably discuss John Harris's talk, possibly hand out flyers? I have downloaded quite alot of pdf's and stuff of this site. Printing is easy and we could hand them out on a large scale in Glasgow. Especially the one about man-made  Swine Flu ;)

Making copies of CD's of talks on tpuc.org would be good too that we can hand out. Some cheap blu tac for posting up signs and really making TPUC stand out.

On my way to Uni everyday, I got the train and underground. Everyone reads the Metro, come on who hasn't? On the front page of them we could write down the site, or google: John Harris - It's An Illusion This is small but effective as people will go home or take a metro everywhere and pass on our information.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome and have fun with police :P

Im all with a glasgow meetup and a monday would be the best day for me. Im not so sure about holding it in a pub because I'm a smoker, but I cant really suggest anything better right now. As for the flyers and stuff, these are good ideas but lets meet up first so we can discuss the actions we can take and the implications of those actions. Then maybe once the meetings are up and running we can start taking positive action which has been well thought out, discussed and generally agreed upon both in terms of the actions themselves and the contingencies we should adopt should we face anything nasty in retort.

Theres an east of scotland meeting on the 19th. This will be the first time Ive met up with people regarding this bee on my bonnet Ive had for many years now. If anyone wants to go to that then lets arrange a meet up in glasgow city centre and I can drive us through.

With regard to a regular glasgow meet up, if we choose a pub I think we should choose a small freindly pub thats in danger of dropping out of business thanks to PTB regulations rather than a corporate one like wetherspoons. A barman of freindly pub could well warn of us of any unfamiliar faces, whereas the barman in wetherspoons is paid to pour drinks and reduce the propensity of a fight.

Just as I determine to go to this meeting on the 19th, the bills are stacking up, but "I WILL BE THERE" regardless of these factors, but I dont want to take on the expense of another meet while I know the people sending brown envelopes through my letter boxes are determinned to make it difficult for me to attend the one on the 19th. Lets decide on a date after that.

What about the monday after the last friday of month. This will mean people who are skint through monthly wages will have just been paid and it wont infringe on their weekend activities.

I myself work at weekends and the friday and saturday nights are my mainstay so I cant make it on these nights, but not because Im anything but a social outcast given the views I hold.

So Monday 31st of August. Sounds ok, since the East of Scotland likes the 18th of the month this makes our sorta inbetween.

Well incase you haven't noticed, a certain smoking ban exists. I have no problem with anyone who smokes, but those boys in blue who are corporate policy enforcers might see otherwise. :D

Well I think Monday is a good time to have it. People don't be afraid to come to these, it is important if you read this to join in none of us bite

For our first meeting bring paper and a pen and be ready to write down stuff or record whatever you want. We will brain storm stuff and then arrange meetings to hand out info and talk to people.

Monday the 31st August 2009 , we have the time , now wheres the place?

If its sunny - is the bandstand down at the clyde still there? what about the parks? what about the grounds of the science centre?

if its rainy - pubs around george square? - somewhere that doesnt blare music so we can hear each other - somewhere that isnt a pub inside a building like yates inside central station - 3 mile walk for a fag - prefereably a beer garden and if possible with free beer :P

I stay 10mins walk from the city center so i'm good when/where ever the meeting is. the 31st is bank holiday so i dunno if thats a good thing or a bad thing for people. if there is people comming to glasgow on the train it might be good just to all meet at central then walk to where ever the meeting will take place.

Monday 31st good for me too but dont know of any pubs in glasgow as dont drink. like the idea of a small friendly pub as it fits in with the one i attended in livingston so if anyone knows of such please let us know, i am not bothered either way but it sounds safer if anyone worried. the fear has, i am afraid left me, for good i hope

Okay Im just going to suggest stuff so that people we can resolve what wont work prior to the 31st:

Lets meet up at "The Meeting Point" inside central station. Its just a point with an (i) information point sign over it called "The Meeting Point" in the centre of the main concourse of the station. Meet up at 5.00pm (later? earlier?) on Monday 31st August 2009. From there move on to the Alpine Lodge just round the corner on hope street. This is a small pub that doesnt suffer from too much business (AFAIK). Even if this pub isnt suitable there are a row of pubs nearby which Im sure one would fit the bill, but lets arrange which pub in advance so that if we decide on a time of meet up, anyone who is late knows exactly where to find us.

I was kinda hoping people would say stuff like "NO 5pm is too early" or "Im barred from that pub".

Whatever we eventually decide can we have it settled at no later that the monday before because the lothian meeting almost got busted by a late change.
